We had a FANTASTIC experience with Marvelous Egypt Travel. I was a little bit nervous because they required cash deposit and balance upon arrival, but I could not have been more pleased. They took care of everything for us, including providing a contact person for us in each city who helped to get us checked into our hotels, providing transportation everywhere we needed to go, arranging private all-day tour guides with our own van and driver, etc. Their prices were really good (we traveled in March 2009), and it was not too good to be true. (If you want more details, you can look at the posting I created before I realized this one had been started called Marvelous Egypt Travel = couldn't have been happier.)

Hi Charles & Carol!

We have two young children (ages 4 & 7), so we wanted a combination of sightseeing and play time. After doing various web searches and coming up with ideas, I gave them an idea of what we wanted to do, and Marvelous Egypt sent us an itinerary. We spent one day sightseeing in Cairo and one day sightseeing in Luxor, then the last few days relaxing at a resort in Hurghada. We had our own tour guide with our own van all day each day; it was just our family plus the tour guide and the driver. Our luggage stayed in our van, so all of our things were with us. Lydia was our guide in Cairo and she was fabulous. My email contact at MVE was Celine and she was great about answering all of my questions. A few days before the trip I panicked a little, just because I had never done a trip like this and had sent a cash deposit and was taking cash to give them up front. I sent Celine a whole bunch of questions, including wanting confirmation information for all of our hotels, in-country flights, etc. She sent me all of the information I requested and said, "Don't worry ... we'll take care of everything" and they did! Lydia was about 30 minutes late picking us up at the hotel the first morning, so I was starting to get a little bit nervous again, but she arrived and said she was stuck in traffic (once you see Cairo, you will understand this was a very legitimate excuse). I just felt that I should add to this thread.

I have recently came back from a fantastic holiday in Egypt with my boyfriend. (Our second visit). We did not do the usual 'tourist thing' and part of our visit was to El Ashmunein (now known as Hermopolis). We arranged this through Marvelous Egypt and they were fantastic. Their guide (Whaggi) and driver (Feddhi) picked us up in air conditioned vehicle from our hotel in Cairo and took us on the 4 hour journey where we also had to be accompanied by a guard. Whaggi's knowledge was fantastic and he also took us to Tuna el Gebel which was not on the itinery! As there were only 2 of us we were not herded around and Whaggi was very easy going and good fun! We were then taken to our hotel in nearby El Minya which was beautiful, where we spent the rest of the first day and all of the second day relaxing by the pool, and eating and drinking in the hotel restaurant (and the hotel restauraunt over the road) Mercure Nefertiti and Aton (delicfious, fresh seafood :-)). These were both beautiful hotels and the staff could not do enough for us!

The next day Feddhi (the driver) collected us and took us back to our hotel in Cairo where he watched us get safely into our hotel. Our trip back with Feddhi was good fun too!

I also feel that I need to add how helpful Celine is when booking as well as answering any queries (and I had many!)

I cannot fault Marvelous Egypt Travel and will certainly book through them when we return to Egypt next year.

Just got back from a 10 day trip in Egypt organized by Marvelous Egypt. Overall, I give this tour agency 4 stars out of 5. We had a great time, and I would recommend this tour agency to anyone. I won't go through all of the details, but our itinerary was 2 days in Cairo, 2 days in Luxor, three night cruise culminating in Aswan after stopping in Edfu and Kom Ombo, and finally ending in Cairo. Kudos to the whole team of Remon, Sara, and Hazem for making this a great trip.

Pros: very good at transfers, always punctual, well-organized, good at navigating the craziness that is Cairo. They even personally met one of our party at the airport at 1am as she was traveling alone. The price was very very affordable (almost 1/3 of the price of other comparable tours). So much so, that we were worried that this was a scam. Trust me, it's not. The tour guides were acceptable, although some of them had a hard time communicating the rich history of the sites we were visiting. This doesn't seem to be that unusual - all of the other tour guides we ran into from other groups also were hard to understand. Finally, they were so accommodating and willing to change based on the whims of my hyper-irrational family. They did everything in their power to adjust and bend to our wishes, even at the last minute. In fact, we didn't have our final itinerary until we arrived in Cairo, because they were working on meeting our needs until the last minute.

Cons: we had too much unstructured free time in Cairo that we didn't know what to do with. Make sure to check your itinerary thoroughly and don't spend more than 2 days in Cairo - the rest of the country is much less stressful. Unfortunately we found out as we were boarding the train to Luxor that we had been booked in a seater car and not a sleeper car. This was *extremely* uncomfortable. In retrospect, they may have mentioned this to us, but really, they shouldn't even offer a seater train, even if it is cheaper. Rather, they should say over and over, "are you sure you really want a seater?" Getting booked on the seater train probably made us lose a whole day because we too tired on both ends of the train to do anything but sleep for a few hours the next day.

Overall, I think this is a great tour agency offering a really great, almost too-good-to-be-true value.

Hi All,

I just returned from a 6 day tour in Egypt.I have taken a tour with Marvelous Egypt Travel. I am glad that i have taken a tour with them. They made my tour a memorable one.

Right from picking up from cairo airport all the representatives and Guides were punctual, accomodative, very friendly and helpful.

I have taken a 3 nights cruise starting from Aswan going thru Edfu, Kom Ambu, Esna and finally culimnating in Luxor. Then 2 days in Cairo. It was great!!.

Had a great trip with Mena (Guide from Aswan To Luxor) and Ameera (Guide in Cairo) and kudos to all of the team Ramon, Muhammed,Hazem and Heba, considering the fact that I have booked the tour just 1 day before I left to Egypt.

Overall I would say that I made a right decision and happy about it and I would definitely recommend Marvelous Egypt Travel to others, friends and family.

Have good time in Egypt.
